Obituary of Douglas James Sewell

The death of Mr. Douglas James Sewell of Kennebec Manor Nursing Home, Saint John, husband of Susan (Pitt) Sewell, occurred on Thursday, December 5, 2002 at his residence. Born in Saint John, he is the son of Samuel James Sewell and the late Marion (Howard) Sewell. Doug had graduated from Dalhousie University in 1980, and was a Pharmacist at Shopper's Drug Mart at Lansdowne Place for a number of years, and had retired due to his illness, Huntington's Disease. Doug was a past member of the Huntington's Society and the Pharmaceutical Society of Canada. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and in particular was fond of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Celtics. He had enjoyed his friends and making new friends, and thoroughly enjoyed his profession and helping people throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Susan, his father, S. James, and his step-mother, Dorothy (Dot), his sisters, Rae Patterson and Gail Gray, both of Saint John, and Brenda Randall of Sudbury, ON, as well as several nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his mother, and his sister Carolyn Gilliland. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement, Millidge Avenue, Saint John, on Monday, December 9, 2002 at 11:00 AM.
