Obituary of Edith Emerson Race
The death of Edith Emerson Race, wife of the late Dr. Charles Leonard Emerson and the late Herbert E. Race, occurred on October 19, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Albert and May (Pearce) Trentowsky. She was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rothesay. She took an active part in both community work in Saint John which included being Regent of the Royal Standard Chapter, I.O.D.E, President Ladies Branch, Union Club and President of the Women's Canadian Club. She was a member of the Riverside Golf Club, the Westfield Golf and Country Club and the Union Club. She is survived by her daughters Doris, Mrs. George W. Scovil, of Rothesay, Margaret, Mrs. Robert. G. Ross, of Montreal, PQ, her grandchildren Dr. John E. (Deborah) Scovil of Saint John, Dr. Robert J. (Deborah) Scovil of Halifax, James E. (Andrea) Ross of Toronto, Cynthia A. (Scott) Littler of Toronto, her great-grandchildren Carolyn, Susan, Lyndsay and Alexandra Scovil, of Halifax, Emerson and Morgan Ross and Edmund Littler of Toronto and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers and two sisters. Although there will not be any visiting the funeral service will be held from Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), on Saturday, October 26, 2002, at 2:30 PM. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
