Obituary of Mary Stella Foster

The death of Mrs. Mary Stella Foster of 219 Ellerdale Street, wife of Harold L. Foster, occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Rose C. (Arsenault) Buckley. Stella attended St. Peter's and St. Vincent's Schools. She lived in Saint John and St. Martins when she retired from the Dr. William F. Roberts Hospital School. She and her husband enjoyed their years in St. Martins and the friends they made there. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, knitting, crafts and ceramics. Besides her husband of 56 years, she is survived by two sons, Frank H. Foster and Stephen R. Foster, both of Saint John, two daughters, Lynda R. Smith of Bath, ON and Patricia Woodhouse of Lancashire, England, one son-in-law, Gregory Smith , seven grandchildren, Theresa Malenfant, Daniel Malenfant, both of Dieppe, Stephen Foster of Calgary, AB, Natasha Ellick of Wickham, NB, Gregory Smith of Calgary, AB, Becky Foster and Anthony Foster both of Saint John, five great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Buckley, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Charles Connell, one daughter, Frances Malenfant and one brother, Frank Buckley. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church, on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
