Obituary of Gerard Anthony O'Hara

The death of Gerard Anthony O'Hara, husband of Bernice (Nisbet) O'Hara, occurred on December 19, 2002, at his residence, Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born at New Waterford, NS, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary (White) O'Hara. He was employed as the caretaker of St. Peter's Church for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, St. Bridget's Church, Chapel Grove, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Pearls Senior Citizens Club. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Leo (Mary) of Saint John, Gerard (Bonnie) of Angus, ON, Paul (Peggy) of Halifax, NS, James (Linda) of Saint John, Hugh (Pauline) of Saint John, Christopher of Saint John, his daughters Mary Frances O'Hara (Don) of Port Hope, ON, Anna Marie O'Hara (Peter) of Saint John, Susan Landry (Morris) of Darlings Island, his sisters Pauline Collins of Victoria, BC, Frances and her husband Robert Gauchie of Penticton, BC, his twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charlie, Joe, Al, Bill and Stan and his sisters Mary Fitzgerald, Peggy Reed, Rita Green and Genevieve Brownlow. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 23, 2002, at 9:30 AM, from St. Peter's Church. Interment will take place at St. Bridget's Cemetery, Chapel Grove.
