Obituary of Bertha Rubin Master

The death of Mrs. Bertha Rubin (Goldstein) Master, of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Robert Master, occurred peacefully at her residence on Monday, November 4, 2002. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Rose (Rubin) Goldstein. Bertha was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She had formerly been employed at Princess Dress Shop on Union Street, Jacobson's Furniture Store, and had retired from Dalmy's Ladies Clothing Store on Charlotte Street following many years of employment. She was a volunteer at the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum, and was a member of the Toastmasters Women's Group and the Hadassah Wizo. Bertha was very active at the Senior Citizen's Center at the Saint John City Market, and had a large circle of friends, which encompassed many age groups. She is survived by three nieces, Janet Stern (Allan) of Halifax, Roslyn Avery of Toronto, and Susan Shaver of Stouffile, ON, one nephew, Michael Goldstein (Allison) of Mississauga, ON, a friend, Darlene Woodford, as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her parents, and two brothers, Ben and Maurie Goldstein. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424. Interment will take place at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery, (Fernhill Cemetery).
