Obituary of Robert Gerard Shannon

The death of Robert G. "Bob" Shannon of Saint John, husband of the late Alida (Levigne) Shannon occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Thursday, April 2, 2015, after a lengthy illness. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Comeau) Shannon. Bob had been employed at Quigg Motors for many years as parts manager. He was an avid card player to a selected group that played every Saturday night. Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his son, Peter Stanley Shannon. He is survived by two sons, Gary (Donna) and David (Charlene); daughter, Lynn (Anthony) Furness; daughter-in-law, Deborah; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Tuesday, April 7,2015, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Augustine’s Church Cemetery, Westfield, later in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
