Obituary of John LeBaron Flewelling

It is with great sadness that the family of John Flewelling of Saint John, cherished husband of Edna (Clark) Flewelling announces his passing, which occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Saint John on August 8, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Sadie E. (Allingham) Flewelling. John truly enjoyed and took great pride in his career as a self-employed farmer. Along with his father and grandfather, he successfully owned and operated Westside Dairy. John also operated Lancaster Tractor and Equipment Limited. He was proud to be a lifelong resident of Manawagonish Road and was born in the family home where he passed. John always held a special place in his heart for all animals. He loved snowmobiling, fishing, bowling, travelling, as well as times spent at his cottage at New River Beach. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by his son, Barry Flewelling of Saint John; daughters, Linda McCarten (Joe) of Quispamsis and Sharon Saunderson (David) of Saint John; sister, Winnie Blagden of Saint John; grandchildren, Monica Cote (Dan) and Colin McCarten; great-grandchildren, Lily Shaw and Jackson Cote; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was also predeceased by his sisters, May Kierstead (Allen), Olive Allingham Pike (Harry) and Dorothy Pierce (Frank). Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in the Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
