Obituary of Gary George Pope

Gary George Pope, husband of the late Rollande (Lacroix) Pope, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born June 11, 1937 in St. Stephen, he was a son of the late Aubrey and Marion (Kent) Pope. Gary was machinist by trade, and started out in the family machine shop, A. O. Pope Ltd. Gary kept busy over the years with different jobs, including working for Johnson Construction, then obtaining his powderman license and starting his own business, Controlled Blasting, where he worked with his son, Stephen, until his retirement. He was a very talented craftsman, and he had a passion for building, fixing, crafting, and creating many projects. Gary is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Gaunce (Carl); and his grandson, Ethan Gaunce. In addition to his parents and wife, Gary was predeceased by his son, Stephen; and brother, Kenton. The family would like to thank the staff of the Loch Lomond Village, where Gary lived his final years, for their care and compassion, and the residents for their friendship and camaraderie. Your kindness will always be remembered. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). In keeping with Gary’s wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
