Obituary of Russell Patrick Driscoll

The death of Russell Driscoll of Lorneville, beloved husband of Delores (Reid) Driscoll occurred on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on March 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Howard and Amelia (Landry) Driscoll. Prior to his retirement, Russell was employed as a Longshoreman and was a member of the ILA for 47 years. In his younger years, Russell worked alongside his father, where he fished lobster and was a skilled boat builder and carpenter. Russell loved to fish and hunt and always enjoyed a good game of horseshoes. Most of all, he treasured the times spent with his family and especially adored playing with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Delores, Russell is also survived by their children, Michael (Monica) of Lorneville, John (Cathy) of Saint John, Mary Durling (Paul) of Cole Harbour, NS and Dianne MacKenzie (Ross) of Lorneville; sisters, Doreen Williams (Len) and Doris Seeley, both of Lorneville; grandchildren, Megan, Mallory, Jonathan, Jordan, Amelia, Madison, Meghan, Alex, Andrew, Nathan and John Michael; great-granddaughter, Clara; daughter-in-law, Sharon Driscoll of Saint John; brother-in-law, Malcolm Maguire of Lorneville; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Malcolm; sister, Rita Maguire and brother-in-law, Carroll Seeley. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
