Obituary of Greta Helena Craig
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Greta Craig at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 10, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born in St. George on October 4, 1921, to the late Ethel (Mooney) and Oren Tatton.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1989, her parents, an infant grandson Darren in 1967 and brother-in-law Rene Lajoie, She is survived by her son Jack Craig (Shirley) of Ontario; daughters Betty VanTassel (Denis) and Anne Crilley, both of Saint John; her only sister, Connie Lajoie, of Minto; her grandchildren Gregory Craig (Irene) of Cold Lake, Alberta, Troy Craig of Ontario, Sari Boudreau (Paul) of St. Stephen, Charlene Ferguson (Andrew) of Lorneville, John Craig Jr. of Toronto, Margaret Kitchener (William) of Ontario, Scott Crilley (Heather), of Saint John; nieces Anne-Marie Hawkes (Edward) of New Maryland, Marylou Savoie (Raymond) of Dieppe and great nieces Kristen and Jenna Hawks, several great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She found her greatest joy in family and her beloved cat, Mika. Most of her former friends are deceased, but she has made many new friends, including those at the complex where she maintained her own apartment. Everyone often said that she never had a negative word to say about anyone. She was often seen out in her yard with her cat and tending to her flowers. Everyone will miss her beautiful smile and sense of humour.
The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and doctors at the Saint John Regional Hospital who cared for her during her illness.
Visitation is at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home (634-7425), 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Following the service, a reception in her honour will be held in the community room at 880 Dannells Drive. Interment will take place at a later date at St. George Rural Cemetery.
