Obituary of Laurence Oliver Abrams

It is with great sadness the family of Larry Abrams announce his passing at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Feb. 21, 2014, husband of Annetta (Stackhouse). Larry was born in Wallaceburg, ON in 1926, son of the late Oliver and Jane (Vivers) Abrams. He joined the Merchant Navy during World War II and continued to sail for a few years following the war, and was later employed as a harbour pilot in Saint John. Larry had a great love of poetry and music and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be lovingly missed. Besides his wife Annetta, Larry leaves behind his children Janet Bishop (Terry) of Grand Bay and Gregory (Jane) of Grand Bay; special sisters-in-law whom he raised, Mary Ann Stephansson (Neil) of Atlanta, GA and Nancy (Dave Edmonds) of Kingston, NB; granddaughters, Emily and Rachael Abrams of Grand Bay; sisters Eileen MacNintch of Ottawa, ON, Muriel Nelson (Larry) of Edmonton, AB and Gracie Abrams of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Alan; nephew Tony Abrams; brothers-in-law Robie MacNintch and Bryan Roberts and sister-in-law Maggie Abrams. Special thanks to Pastor John Martin and staff of Ridgewood Veterans Wing for their wonderful care and compassion. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John (634-7425). There will be no visitation and a private family service will be held. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer Society of NB or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
