Obituary of Keith Allan Murphy

Keith Allan Murphy of Saint John, husband of Joanne F. (Seeley) Murphy, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Plaster Rock, NB on June 12, 1941, he was a son of the late Douglas and Margaret (Keith) Murphy. Keith was employed for several years with the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in 1994 as the Mobile Supervisor. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Hartland Branch # 24 for 52 years, and was a very active member of Lancaster Baptist Church, where he held various offices over the years. He was a Cub Scout Leader in his younger years, and in later years enjoyed playing shuffleboard and looking after his (and his neighbours’) lawn. In addition to his wife of 41 years, Keith is survived by his children, Pastor Wayne Murphy (Angie) of Saint John, and Pastor Nancy Murphy of Fredericton; grandchildren Abby, Aidan, Nason, Elias, and Matthew; a niece, Judy Robichaud; a nephew, Bruce Murphy; sister-in-law Cynthia Klinkhammer of Winnipeg, MB; and several cousins. Keith was predeceased by siblings Douglas, Lee, and Sally Murphy. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Hartland.
