Obituary of Mary Elizabeth White

Mary Elizabeth White, formerly of Fredericton, wife of the late Ellis H. White, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in English Harbour, Newfoundland on February 12, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Selby and Niomi (Hiscock) Penney. Mary was a faithful member of Christ Church (Parish) Church in Fredericton, where she was active with the ACW. She was a former member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Napadogan Branch #67 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and spent many years as Matron of the Farraline Home in Fredericton. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed knitting, and she was a wonderful cook. Mary is survived by her children, Gilbert White (Bev Sawler) of Summerville, Nova Scotia, and Geraldine "Geri" Gallant (Gary) of Saint John; grandchildren Brad White (Anne-Elise), Trevor Gallant, Tracy Ross (Mike) and Troy Gallant; great grandchildren Solomon "Solly", Abbey, and Lydia Ross; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Sullivan of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by a brother, Llewellyn Penney; and by a sister, Josephine Jones. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 1:30 – 3:30 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3:30 PM from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Thomas Cemetery, Stanley.
