Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Selena McHugh

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty McHugh announces her passing on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Betty was born on December 22, 1931 in Saint John to the late Harry and Gertrude (Brooks) Pollard. Betty graduated in February of 1953 from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nurses and worked for the Workmen’s Compensation Board for 29 years until her retirement. Betty loved to spend time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Seren, who brought her so much joy. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and spending her summers trailering at the Island View Trailer Park. She is survived by her children, Peter McHugh (Anne) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Anne McHugh of Saint John; granddaughter, Seren Elizabeth McHugh; step-grandchildren, Tahnee and Kyle Graham; a niece and a nephew, several cousins and special cousin, Jane Cross. Betty was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Dawn Short and Patricia Grover. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visitation on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will held from the Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Saint John General Hospital School of Nurses Alumni would be appreciated by the family.
