Obituary of Alice Eileen Logan

With heartfelt sadness, the family of Alice Eileen Logan, wife of Louis Logan, announces that she went home to be with her Lord on May 8, 2013 at the Loch Lomond Village, with her loving family at her side. Born in Fairville, NB on September 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Beverley and Ada (Belyea) Heans. Alice went to Fairville Superior School, Saint John Vocational and the Modern Business College. She married Lou, the love of her life on May 8, 1954 and had been married for 59 years to the day. She began her working life as a bank teller at the Bank of Montreal and went on to a 32 year career as a Medical Receptionist. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Family was everything to Alice and she loved to spend time with them, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. A kind and giving friend, Alice enjoyed reading, knitting, skating, music, animals, flowers, golf, and all types of puzzles. She especially loved to travel, a highlight of which was the trip to Hawaii. Alice was a 62 year member of Lancaster Baptist Church and was very active in the church choir. For 42 years, she would play bridge with the same group of friends every week and they would sing a great version of the "Teddy Bears Picnic". In her youth she was a member of the Provincial Women’s Softball Championship Team, and also enjoyed a good game of tennis as well as a brisk "walk around the block" with her dog, Kizzie. Alice will always be remembered for her warm and beautiful smile; even during her illness, she always had a smile. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Loch Lomond Villa/Village for their extraordinary kindness and care. Alice is survived by her husband, Louis; daughters, Janet (Brian) Wilson of Saint John and Elaine (Stephen) Melanson of Halifax, NS; grandchildren, David (Lindsay) Curran, Jennifer, Amanda and Bradley Wilson; step-grandchildren, Alicia (Marty) Braganza, Joseph and Julie Melanson; step-great-grandchild, Noah Braganza; brother, Beverley (Jeanette) Heans; sister-in-law, Naida Heans; niece, Karen Steen and nephews, Larry and Alan Heans. She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Audrey (Murray) Keating; brother, Bill Heans and nephew, Glen Keating. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 2-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Lancaster Baptist Church on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Canadian Diabetic Association, the Alzheimer Society or the SPCA.
