Obituary of Olive Bernice Currie

It is with great sadness the family of Olive Bernice "Olie" announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saturday, March 2, 2013 in her 98th year. Olive was born on Christmas day 1915 in Milford, Saint John West and was a life long resident of Fairville. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Edna (Engalls) McCaughan and had been employed by T.S. Simms until her retirement. Olive was a member of The Church of Good Shepherd and enjoyed being part of the Ladies Auxiliary in her younger years, she was also a life long member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 69, where she was a member for 64 years. Olive was an avid Bingo player and shared many laughs and also loved Christmas and going to and having yard sales. Olive is survived by her daughters, Judy Thibodeau (Bernard), Faye MacGarvie (Ian) of Saint John, and Jean Bell (Ron) of Wyoming, Ontario; four grandchildren, Timothy Cormier (Chrissy), Tyler Thibodeau, Amanda Laver (Don) and Trever Thibodeau (Paige), all of Saint John, 5 great grandchildren, Lynne Cormier, Jackson Laver, Alexis, Peyton and Beckham Thibodeau, who she loved dearly; several nieces and nephews, special friends and her faithful companion, Rudy the Dog. Olive is predeceased by her husband George Henry (1914-1954); brothers, Glendon and Douglas; sisters Mabel, Marjorie and Audrey. At the request of the family there will be no visitation and a private family burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634 7425). Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
