Obituary of Patricia B. Jensen

Surrounded by her family the death of Pat Jensen, wife of the late Maurice Jensen occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 23, 2012 after a period of failing health. She was born on March 21, 1931 in Randolph, MA to the late John and Blanid (Sharkey) McAuliffe. Pat graduated from the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years before moving to the VON. In her later years Pat continued her education obtaining her Psychology Degree from UNBSJ. She was the founder and executive director of CAN COPE Inc.; a non-profit organization which set up support groups for patients and families dealing with cancer. Pat also teamed up with Nancy MacCharles of Humor and Play Consultants, helping patients cope through Laughter Therapy. She is survived by her son, Paul (Melissa) of Rothesay; grandchildren: Ryan and Alisha; siblings: Gregory (Ethel); Mary Lou Kerr (George), Gerard (Sandy); Mark (Mary) and Carol Shaw (Gordon) and several nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her husband; parents; daughter, Krista Jensen; brothers, John and David and sister, Rosemary. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). A celebration of Pat’s Life will be held in the Bay View Reception Centre on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. For those who wish remembrances to the Cancer Society, Romero House or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
