Obituary of Patricia Best

Mary Patricia (Pat) Best of Saint John died on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Turnbull Nursing Home, Saint John. Born on March 10, 1935, in Northeastern New Brunswick, Pat was the wife of the late F. Brian Best and the daughter of the late Gordon and Helen (Driscoll) LeCouffe.

Pat’s greatest joy was her family – Brian was the love of her life, and her children and grandchildren the center of her world. She was a devout and active Catholic, and had been a member of St. Pius X Church (Holy Redeemer Parish) until her move to Turnbull Nursing Home in January 2023.

Pat is survived by her children, Cathy (Tony) McBride of Kingston, ON; Patrick Best of Barrie ON and Margie (Aaron) Trafton of Saint John; her grandchildren, Cathleen Trafton (Eric Sloan), and Laura Best. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marie (the late Kevin) Best of Montreal, a sister, Beverly (Bob) Hardy of Hemet, California, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 30 at 12-noon at Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X Church), 316 Somerset Street, Saint John. The internment will take place at a later date in Cemetière Notre-Dame des Neiges, Montreal. For those who wish, remembrance to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
