Craig, Dr. David W. – It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected death of Dr. David Craig of Rothesay on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Born in Saint John, NB, Dr. David was raised in Milford and went to Saint John High School before attending Mount Allison University for his undergraduate, completing his medical degree at Dalhousie University in 1976. David is survived by Sally, his loving wife of 39 years. He was her loving husband and best friend and they enjoyed working together at the office. He is also survived by his mother, Rita, 3 brothers, Dr. Ronald (Carol), Dr. Donald (Anne), Dr. Brian (Heather); many nieces and nephews and his loyal Golden Retrievers, Ollie and Nikki. He was predeceased by his father, Walter (Bud) Craig. David was active in the medical community. Upon graduating from medical school he returned to Saint John where he was a family physician for the past 34 years. He practiced with his brothers which he truly enjoyed. He was a member and past president of the Saint John Medical Society, a member of the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of N.B., the New Brunswick Medical Society and the Canadian Medical Association. A great hockey fan, David treasured his friendships and times spent as a team physician for the Saint John Flames and the Saint John Sea Dogs. David was also an avid New York Yankees fan and a car enthusiast who enjoyed his road trips with friends. He had a great sense of humor and he valued the friendship of his Friday Night Social Club. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Main St. Baptist Church on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the N.B. Kidney Foundation, the Saint John Animal Rescue League or a charity of the donor’s choice.
