Obituary of Michael O'Brien

The death of Michael O’Brien of Vancouver and formerly of Saint John, occurred unexpectedly on June 6, 2021 in Vancouver.  Born on March 4, 1967 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Cunningham) O’Brien.

 

Michael will be affectionately remembered as a happy, loving and caring person…one who always cherished the social times with those he loved.  Michael enjoyed hockey and was a loyal Montreal Canadiens fan.

 

Michael is survived by his children, Krista Hickman (Dan), Tiffany MacKinnon and Jason MacKinnon (Tabatha); grandchildren, Brandon MacKinnon, Kelsey Osmon, Ava Carter, Savanna Borden and Audrina MacKinnon; siblings, Anne Williams, Kathy Spencer (Ken), Judy O’Brien (John) and John O’Brien; nieces and nephews, Scott Williams, Jessica Causey (Nathan), Joshua Fillmore (Courtney), Christopher Fillmore, Courtney Fillmore, Shawna Fillmore, Brittany Carr, Sarah O’Brien (Krista), Chrissy O’Brien, Jeffery Vautour, Amanda Foster (Dave) and Brandon Vautour; along with other extended family members.  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by the love of his life, Linda MacKinnon; brothers, Patrick (Sherry), Sean and Jeffery; as well as his nephew, Corey Vautour.

 

Michael's family would like to thank their cousin, Mike Ferguson, for his assistance with everything in Vancouver.    

 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Monday, August 9, 2021 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following the visitation and beginning at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel.  A reception will follow the interement.  For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by visiting Michael’s obituary on Brenan’s website.  Guests are asked to enter the building using the courtyard doors, where staff will great and assist you with COVID-19 protocol.  Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
