Obituary of Alexander J. Scott

SCOTT-the death of Alexander J. "Sandy" Scott, husband of Julia A. (Doherty-Brown) Scott, occurred at Loch Lomond Villa on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Sandy was born in Saint John, a son of the late Francis and Mary (Worden) Scott. He was a graduate of St. Vincent's Boys High School. He had operated Scott Bros. Grocery for 35 years and later was a member of the Corps of Commissionaires. He served as a wireless operator during the Second World War. He was a member of Council 937 Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Rhoda Patchell; and two sons, Frank Scott and Robert Brown. Besides his wife, she is survived by four sons, John Scott of Saint John, Kenneth (Cathy) Scott of Edmonton, John (Susan) Brown of Saint John, and David (Heather) Brown of Quispamsis; two daughters, Andrea and Mary Claire Brown, both of Saint John; one brother, Leonard (Jacqueline) Scott of Montreal; one sister, Mary Mazerolle (Robert) of Saint John; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 7 to 9 and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus will gather at the funeral home on Friday evening at seven o'clock for prayers.
