Obituary of J. T. Roy McCormick

McCORMICK-the death of J. T. Roy McCormick, husband of the late Olive M. (McCluskey) McCormick, occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Sunday, August 3, 2008. Roy was born in Arnprior, Ont., a son of the late Joseph and Olive (Murdoch) McCormick.He had served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 1945. He retired from the Saint John Fire Dept. with the rank of District-chief in 1980 after 35 years of service. He had been a member of the Main Brace Naval Veterans' Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters. He was a longtime member of St. Joachim's Parish. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew McCormick; and two brothers, Douglas and Ronald McCormick. He is survived by one son, Keith (Marguerite) of Fredericton; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Betts of Saint John, and Patricia Ann Morrison (Neil) of Quispamsis; two sisters, Mrs. Keitha Carroll of Ottawa, and Mrs. Merle Carroll of Pompano Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Natalie McCormick of Ottawa, Nichole Fox (Michael) of Fredericton, David Betts of Langley, B.C, and Colleen and Ian Morrison, both of Quispamsis. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Church on Thursday morning at nine o'clock. Following cremation, interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
