Obituary of J. Joseph Murray

MURRAY-the death of J. Joseph Murray, husband of Audrey M. (Aucoin) Murray, occurred at his residence on Monday, June 9, 2008. Joe was born in Saint John, a son of the late George and Margaret (Brennan) Murray. Joe will be well remembered by many for his baseball talents which began as a young pitching phenom when he joined the Saint John Dodgers at the age of 14 - the youngest player of his time to play at the senior men's caliber. He was known as one of the strongest player/pitchers in the Maritime men's senior circuit from 1957-1967. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mike (Tammy) of Rothesay, John (Wendy) of Saint John, and Steve (Jessica) of Providence, R.I.; two daughters, Deb Murray (Jon Gould) of Windsor, Ont., and Carrie Murray (John Parent) of Grand Bay-Westfield; one brother, Patrick (Roselyn) of Nepean, Ont.; five grandchildren, Kathleen, Allison, Alex, Brooke, and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Wednesday from 7 to 9 and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church on Friday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint John Extra-Mural Program would be appreciated.
