Obituary of Arthur J. Abbott

ABBOTT-the death of Arthur J. Abbott of Saint John, husband of the late Elsie G. (King) Abbott, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Art was born in Saint John, a son of the late John F. and Sarah (Cunningham) Abbott. He was predeceased by a brother, John Abbott; and a sister, Joan Rinehart. He had served on the Saint John Fire Department for 38 years, retiring with the rank of District-Chief. He is survived by two sons, Richard J. Abbott (Maureen) of Chilliwack, B.C., and Gary P. Abbott (Lorraine) of Lawrence Station, N.B.; four daughters, Rose Marie Ridgley (Tom) of Rothesay, Pamela MacLean (Doug) of Saint John, Darlene Bonner (Brian Hersey) of Saint John, and Diane Sentner of Rothesay; three sisters, Norma Halliday of Saint John, Nancy Brooks of Apohaqui, and Shirley Milam (Tom) of Louisiana; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday from 6 to 9 and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Church on Monday morning at 10:30. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
