Obituary of Ruby E. Montague

MONTAGUE-the death of Ruby E. Montague of 219 Ellerdale St. and formerly of Grand Bay-Westfield, widow of Gerald V. Montague, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 26, 2008. Mrs. Montague was born in Windsor, N.S., on January 7, 1919, a daughter of the late John and Lillian (Hebb) Dunright. She had been employed at Estabrooks Red Rose Tea during the Second World War. Following the war she and her husband farmed at Queenstown for a number of years. She helped her husband prepare meals for the N.B. Scottish Officers Mess. They later moved to Westfield where she was known for her beautiful gardens. She retired from Simms Brush Factory due to ill health. She was predeceased by five brothers, Gordon, Donald, Douglas, Charles, and Gerald Dunright; a sister, Mildred Richardson; and an infant son, Gerald Vincent Jr. She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Gregg (David) of Saint John; one sister, Marjorie Savoie of Toronto; four grandchildren, Brenda Bacon (William), Gary Gregg (Heather), Susan Gregg, and Stephen Gregg (Suzanne); eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. No public visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday morning at 12:05. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Animal Rescue League or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
