Obituary of M. Isabelle Wills

Isabelle Wills, age 82, wife of Dr. Roy Wills of Saint John, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born on January 14, 1928, she was the daughter of Ivan and Dora (Smith) Cummings of Eight Island Lake, Nova Scotia. Isabelle graduated from the School of Nursing at the Victoria General Hospital where she worked until moving to Saint John and continued her nursing at the Saint John General Hospital. After raising her family she worked with her husband as the "Needle Lady" in his office until his retirement. She was a long-time member of St. Mark's United Church, and the United Church Women.  A loving and devoted wife of 58 years, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Isabelle enjoyed entertaining her family and in-laws for Christmas and summer gatherings. She was an avid nature lover, and spent many hours enjoying gardening and walking, as well as gatherings at Island Lake, the family camp.  Besides her husband, she will be sadly missed by her children; David of Saint John, Ann (Allan) Barteaux of Hampton, Susan of Saint John, and Mary (Tony) Cosman of Grand Bay-Westfield; seven grandchildren, Michael (Janette) & Matthew (Terri) Wills, Stephen & Tim Barteaux, Jessica, Alyson & Abigail Cosman; two great grandchildren, Ryan & Liam Wills; two brothers Allan Cummings of Halifax and Russell (Hazel) Cummings of Ontario; sisters-in-law and brothers-in law Mardi (Les) Bartlett of Fredericton, Marilyn (Walter) Patterson of Ontario, Jean Cummings of Eight Island Lake and Ruby Cummings of Halifax; and several nieces & nephews.  Isabelle was predeceased by brothers, Albert & Raymond Cummings and sisters, Mary & Wilma Cummings.  Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Mark's United Church, Dexter Drive, West Saint John on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery following the reception. For those who wish, remembrances to the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the Cherry Brook Zoo, or to any charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.Â
