Obituary of Dorothy Alberta Purdy

Dorothy Alberta Purdy of Saint John, wife of the late Norman Douglas Purdy, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on July 18, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Edward Fauntleroy and Ethel Alberta (McCorkle) Russell. Dot was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She enjoyed keeping up with current events, faithfully reading the paper and watching the news each day, as well as reading her Bible. She also enjoyed cooking.  Dot is survived by her sons, Ross E. Purdy (Elizabeth) of Saint John and Stewart D. Purdy of Saint John; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In addition to her husband and to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Russell, and a sister, Joan Kelly.  Although there will be no visiting, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West. Interment will take place in the Good Shepherd Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.Â
