Obituary of Charles Walsh

The death of Charles Edward Walsh occurred peacefully on July 14, 2010 at the St. John St. Stephen Church Home. Born in Saint John on August 3, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (King) Walsh. He was a member of Main St. Baptist Church. Charles "Beaner" worked as a longshoreman and later with Cargill Grain Ltd until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, canoeing and skating. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne (Smith) of 50 years; his son, Timothy (Riza) of Burnaby, BC; two daughters, Tammy (Robert) Goldie of Hamilton, ON and Angela Walsh of Welland, ON; grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Marianne, Tynisha, Benjamin, Madeline, and Derek; two great-grandchildren, Serenity and Mila; sister, Elinor Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Charlie was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Walsh. By Charlie's request, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from Brenan's Bay View Chapel at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425).
