Obituary of Mary Eleanor Arseneau

The children of Mary Arseneau, wife of the late Jerry Arseneau, are saddened to announce her passing on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital but are comforted to know Mom is now at peace and with Dad. Mary was born on December 24, 1922 in Fairville, NB to the late Edward and Eleanor Babineau and lived her whole life in Lancaster. She was a life member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, charter member of the CWL and a member of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and St. Vincent's Alumnae (1941). Mary worked for T.S. Simms & Co. Ltd., in the payroll department for many years until her retirement in 1983. While raising her children she was a depot manager for the Evening Times Globe. Mary and Jerry enjoyed many trips to New Hampshire and Mary enjoyed numerous bus trips with her friends. She loved her hobbies: playing cards, bowling with the Ding-A-Lings, reading, knitting and crocheting. She was loving mother to her children, Peter and his wife Colleen, Joan and her husband Douglas Marks and Theresa 'Tee Tee' and her husband Gary MacAllister all of Saint John, and will be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Ryan MacAllister, Lindsay MacDonald (Joe) and Mary Beth Marks. She was a proud great grandmother "GG" to Lily Grant Belyea and Darcy MacDonald. Also surviving are her four sisters; Margaret McNulty, Rita Butler and Josephine McHarg all of Saint John and Pauline Theorin of Burtt's Corner, NB. Besides her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her only brother, James Babineau. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose of Lima Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11 AM. A reception will follow the mass at the Brenan's Bay View Reception Centre. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish remembrances may be made to the Romero House, Palliative Care or the charity of the donor's choice.
