Obituary of Heather Irene MacKenzie

MacKenzie, Heather Irene … The death of Heather I. MacKenzie formerly of Saint John West occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday January 22, 2009. Born in Saint John on May 11, 1943 she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Georgina (Godwin) MacKenzie. Heather was a life long resident of Saint John and was educated in local schools; she graduated from the former Saint John Vocational School and she had been employed in the Insurance industry for many years. Heather was a member of the Saint John Insurance Women's Association and she was a Sargent in the Medical Corps Army Reserve. She was an avid gardener. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Carol Mackenzie, infant sister Kathleen and her partner George Gibson. She is survived by her aunt and uncle, Helen and Gerald Burke of Saint John West, NB, several cousins and many friends. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West, NB (506-634-7425), from where the service will be held in the Chapel on Monday January 26, 2009 at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery in the spring. Visiting hours will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
