Obituary of Charles Horace William Howe

Howe, Charles Horace William – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Howe of Ocean Westway, Saint John, NB, husband of the late Laura Jean (Kingston) Maher-Howe. Born on June 7, 1927 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Horace and Jenny (Osborne) Howe and had been employed with the CNR for 42 years. Charles was past-president of the Senior Citizens at the Saint John City Market, a former owner/operator of the Regent Motel, a member of the Knights of Pythias NB Lodge # 1 for over 50 years and was the current president, a volunteer with the NB Heart Surgery Support Group, a member of the Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan (D.O.K.K.) for over 43 years and a member of the Carleton Cornet Band during the late 50's and early 60's. Survived by special friend and companion, June McCluskey; two step-sons, Harold (Olivia) Maher and Gordon (Susan) Maher, both of Quispamsis, NB; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by a sister, Betty McHugh and a brother, Jack. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Bay View Chapel on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 2 pm. Interment will be in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or any charity of choice.
