Obituary of Gene Angus Moore

Gene Angus Moore, 75, of Nauwigewauk, NB, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, April 17, 2008. The son of the late Ansel and Annie (O’Leary) Moore of Fredericton, Gene was born in Rusagonis, NB. Predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie (Scott) Moore, Gene is survived by his loving wife Judith (Hodgin) (Thorne) Moore; his children, Ronald Gene Moore, Ottawa, James Ansel (Susan) Moore, Fredericton, and Janice Arlene Hanif Moore, Edmonton; stepchildren Thomas Thorne, Saint John, Heather (Fred) Bullock, Nauwigewauk and Megan Thorne, Saint John; grandchildren Travis, Nicole and Keri Moore; Shyreen, Aadam and Noah Hanif, and Ana and Isabella Bullock; also by brothers Dennis (Joan) Moore and Wayne (Carol) Moore; sister, Gail Moore, all of Fredericton; and brother Leo (Alice) Moore, Sussex; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Gene worked with NBTel for 42 years, serving in several capacities including those of Technician, Buildings Manager and retiring in 1993 as a Budget Analyst. He greatly enjoyed spending time at both the Snake Ridge and Bear Brook hunting camps with his friends and with family members. Gene also served in many volunteer capacities with the Diocese of Fredericton, giving many hours of great service as Chair of the Diocesan Finance Committee and member of Diocesan Council, Property Committee and Human Resources Committee. He served his church parochially as warden, treasurer, vestry member and synod delegate. Gene was a dedicated vegetable gardener and maker of jams, jellies, pickles and his prized and delicious soldier beans. He enjoyed curling in his younger years, played darts and horseshoes with his best buddies in later years, and loved spending time with and spoiling his younger grandgirls Ana and Isabella. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from the Church of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew, 648 Westmorland Road, Saint John East, with the Rev. Greg McMullin and the Rev. Peter Gillies officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredericton, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Church Army (National - Saint John); Holy Trinity Hammond River (Anglican) Church, Quispamsis, or the Church of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew, in lieu of flowers. www.brenansfh.com
