Obituary of Freda Fowler Clifford

Freda Fowler Clifford, wife of the late Ronald Clifford, was called to her heavenly home on May 14, 2008 at the Moncton City Hospital. She was in her 96th year. Born at Newcastle Creek, Queens County, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Duncan and Mary Isabel (Fowler) MacMann. She resided in Minto, Los Angeles, California, and for over 75 years in Saint John before becoming a resident of Grass Special Care Home, Riverview, to be closer to her family. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, and was very active in all aspects of the Lord’s work including Sunday School, various Ladies’ Groups, Deaconesses, girls’ work and sang for many years in the Church Choir. She worked for Storey’s Hat Shop; Peacock’s Flower Shop; Fowler’s Flower Shop in the City Market; All Canada Baptist Publications; and for many years as church secretary at Central Baptist. She was a longtime clerk for Lantic Credit Union. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, handicrafts, knitting and travelling to be with her family for sporting and musical events and was always interest in her family’s well being. She is survived by her son Fred and her daughter-in-law Jill (Jamieson) of Moncton, grandchildren Matthew of Moncton and Stephen and his wife Pamela (Parent) of Grand Falls, NB, her darling great-grandson Kaleb and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Stoddard and the staff of the Grass Special Care Home for their wonderful care and compassion. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 12:30 until 1:30 pm at which time the funeral service will take place at Brenan’s Chapel officiated by Rev. Greg Geldart. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the Gideon Bible Plan or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
