Obituary of Irene Theresa Patterson

Surrounded by her loving family the death of Irene Patterson, wife of Murray “Pat” Patterson occurred at the Shannex Nursing Home on Saturday, November 27, 2010. She was born on February 12, 1927 at Saint John to the late John and Josephine (Britney) Deering. Irene worked for NBTel in the Operators Department for over 33 years until her retirement in 1982. She was a former member of the Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club and the Morley Crescent and NBTel Bridge Clubs. Besides her husband Murray, Irene is survived by her three daughters: Deborah Poley (Edward) of Saint John, Pamela Brown of Oromocto and Christine Patterson (John Palmer) of Hawley, PE; two brothers: Gregory (Theresa) of St. Andrews and Douglas Deering (Joan) of Saint John; five sisters: Patricia Clarke (Gerald), Helen Willar and Kathleen Kelly (William) all of Saint John, Mary Rogers of Burlington, ON and Phyllis Reid (Paul) of Paris, ON; five grandchildren: Trish, Natasha, Rhanda, Britteney and Nate; five great grandchildren: Matthew, Jacob, Isaac, Brandy and Alissah and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Irene was predeceased by her son, Patrick Patterson; brothers: John and Pat; sister, Peggy and grandson, Josh Brown. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 12:05 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
