Obituary of Murray Harold Evans

At home after a brief illness the death of Murray Evans, husband of Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” (Gaynes) Evans occurred on Monday, July 5, 2010. He was born on November 30, 1925 in Saint John to the late Richard H. and Mary E. (Dwyer) Evans. Murray worked for over 35 years as an Industrial Mechanic with NB Power and was actively involved in the union. He was a life long member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. In his spare time, Murray was a family man enjoying every moment with his grandchildren. He also was an avid reader and loved traveling. Besides Peggy his devoted wife of over 57 years, Murray is survived by three sons: Mike, Richard (Cathy) and Peter (Angela) Evans; daughter, Kathy Kirkpatrick (David); brother, William “Bill” Evans; six grandchildren, Janice, Mark, Diane, James, Jennifer and Kyla and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers: Gerald, Walter and Arthur and sister, Marjorie. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 12:05 PM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Romero House or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
