Obituary of James Michael Stack

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Jim Stack that occurred on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on December 14, 1930 in Saint John, NB, he was a devoted son of the late William J. Stack and Stella J. (McDuff) Stack. Jim attended St. Vincent’s Boys’ High School. He was employed in drafting and sales in plumbing and heating his entire life, beginning with James Robertson Ltd., then with EMCO and finally with Wolseley, Eastern Mechanical Ltd., retiring in 2002. Jim was a humble, quiet and caring man of great faith. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and hockey, often traveling to Boston and Montreal for the playoffs. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 937, the Holy Name Society and the Legion of Mary (Cathedral). Jim is survived by his sisters Noreen E. (Buddy) Cavanagh and Margaret M. (Bill) Wiseman; his brother Father Raymund J. Stack; his nephews and nieces, Michael (Bev) Cavanagh, Timothy Cavanagh, Andrew (Carrie) Cavanagh, and Peter (Josee) Cavanagh. Dr. Paul (Aya) Wiseman, Dr. Mary Ann (Mike) Brown, Dr. Maureen Wiseman; grand nephews and grand nieces; Nora Lydon, who was a faithful and caring friend; and the many kind friends whose lives he touched. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother Father Bernard W. Stack and his aunts Mary (Joseph) Mullaly and Genevieve and Florence McDuff. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday September 7, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 12:05 PM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s cemetery immediately following the Mass. In Jim’s memory, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
