Obituary of Marguerite Miriam McIntyre

The death occurred on 27 November 2010 at St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home at the age of 92,wife of C. Bayard McIntyre. She was born in Cobourg, Ontario on December 26, 1917, the daughter of the late Edward Evan and Flora Isabel (Thomas) White. She grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick, graduated from Aberdeen High School and Moncton Business College. While in school she was employed part time during weekends and holidays at T. Eaton, Catalogue Division. After graduation she was employed as the cashier at the Crown Life Insurance Co., until her marriage in 1942. She lived in Greenwood, Nova Scotia for a period of time where she was active in the Protestant Church., on the school board, and a member of the Greenwood Players. After moving to Saint John, she had many active years as a member of St. Marks United Church. She was an elder and secretary of the board for a time. In 1972 she was elected as a commissioner to General Council. She also served on conference Finance Committee. Active in the United Church Women and served on all three levels and was treasurer of the conference level for a term of five years. Marguerite was a member of YCMA Ladies Auxiliary and severed as treasurer. She enjoyed sailing and cruising on the Saint John River system and was a member of the racing committee at RKYC for many years. While living in Moncton, she was a member of the Moncton Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and was awarded the degree of Exemplar of Beta Sigma Phi. She is survived by her son, David and her daughter-in-law Peggy (Mehan) and her daughter Julia and son-in-law David Teed and her grandchildren Karen Doyle (Jason), Jamie Young (Derek), Kathryn McIntyre, Stephanie Teed (Ken) and Andrew Teed (Heather) and her great grandchildren Tyler and Addison Doyle, Hailey and Alexis Young and Dawson Teed. She was predeceased by her husband Bayard, son Peter, her brothers James (Moncton) and Jack (Halifax) and her nephew James White. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday from 4 – 7 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
