Obituary of Marion Edith Burns

Marion Edith Burns, formerly of Rothesay, wife of the late James Burns, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre. Born in Rothesay on January 14, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Maine) Lawrence. Marion lived most of her life on the Marr Road in Rothesay, raising her family there. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Marion is survived by her children, Florence Tyler (Dennis Norris) of Bloomfield, Kings County, Doreen Worden (James) of Rothesay, Josephine Sleigh (Kenneth) of Saint John, Robert Burns (Elizabeth) of Sussex, and Gloria Kilpatrick (Barry) of Hampton; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Marion was predeceased by a son, James Malcolm Burns; sisters Lillian Marr, Gladys Bullock, Grace Saunders, Dorothy Kennedy, and Jean Maunder; and by brothers Sid, Percy, Leonard, and Fred Lawrence. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre for their loving care to Marion during her stay there. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
