Obituary of Mabel Helen Dixon

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mabel Helen Dixon (Davidson) on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She went to be with her Lord in Heaven after a period of failing health. Mabel was born in Hampton on August 13, 1921, to parents John R. and Alice R. Davidson. Mabel graduated from Hampton Consolidated School and went on to attend Modern Business College in Saint John. She worked in numerous businesses in Saint John including, Joseph A. Likely and Scovil’s Transfer. Mabel is survived by her loving husband, James A. of over 62 years. She was an exceptionally devoted wife to Jim and Mother to her children, David A. (Ann Marie) of Rothesay, Carol L. (John Combaluzier) of Fredericton and Andrew J. (Barbara) of Rothesay, along with grandchildren, Sarah and Keith Dixon, Krystal (Matthew) McQuade and Kyle Suttie, Brittany and Garrett Dixon and great grandson, Chase A. Dixon. Mabel is also survived by sisters, Ina (Clifford) Kennedy of Ottawa and Jean Harding of Calgary, as well as special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mabel was spiritually dedicated to St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Forest Hills. She devoted many years to teaching Sunday School and was a long-time member of the Church Choir. Mabel was a member of the Historical Society and was always a source of historical facts for many. Jim and Mabel had many wonderful vacation trips together and many happy times were spent at their cottage in Browns Cove on the Belleisle Bay with family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards with the people she loved. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM from St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church, 648 Westmorland Road, Saint John. Interment to take place in Church of the Ascension Cemetery, Hampton. Remembrances may be made to St. May’s & St. Bartholomew’s Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice
