Born at St. John’s, NL, he was a son of the late Cecil and Susannah (Picco) Vicars. Cecil was employed in the steel business for many years, and then the agriculture industry, where he was engaged with Sunnyside Farms at Ashburn, Ontario. Jean and Cecil also owned and operated a gift and bath shop together for several years. In 1993, fulfilling a life-long dream, Cecil and Jean returned home to live in Rothesay. He was a creative and busy spirit who worked with wood, glass, ceramics, and other people, in equal measure. He attended St. David’s United Church, Rothesay. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Cecil is survived by a son, James (Alison) of St. Martins, NB; a daughter, Susan (Dany) of Zug, Switzerland; four brothers, James of Cole Harbour, NS, David (Alice) of Saint John West, William (Barbara) of Saint John and Brian (Mary) of Saint John; two sisters, Elizabeth Murray and Maureen (Gordon) Creamer, both of Saint John; two grandchildren, Aela and Tiia; two great grandchildren, Humza and Yasmeen; and several nieces and nephews. Cecil was predeceased by a granddaughter, Susan; a brother, Ronald; two nieces, Dawn Cormier and Elaine Richard; and a nephew, Mark Vicars. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from St. David’s United Church, Rothesay. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
