Obituary of Margaret Beatrice Mannett

Peacefully, and surrounded by her family, Mom went home for the final time, carried there we’re sure on wings overflowing with love. Stubborn until the end, she gave us time to say our good-byes and send our hellos and love on to loved ones gone before her. For this we will always be thankful. Mom was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Johnson) Melvin. A life-long resident of St. Martins, Mom was employed for many years at the Saint John Airport and later with the village of St. Martins from which she retired. Many afternoons were enjoyed in the lobby of her home with her friends, members of her seniors club, caregivers, and family. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 63, the Senior’s Club, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, St. Martins, and the Anglican Church Women. Mom is survived by two sons, Glendon (Flo) of Edmonton, Alberta, and Stuart (Lisa) of Petitcodiac; seven daughters, Margaret LeBlanc, Caroline Savoy, Lillian Brown, Eleanor Wilson, Debhra Patchell, all of Saint John, Helen Brown (Wade) of St. Martins, and Barbara Theriault of Saint John; brothers Bob, Roland, and Doug; sisters Gladys, Gloria Jean, Inez, Lenora, and Irene; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by our Dad, Alwyn (Buck) Mannett; a son, Lester; a daughter, Mary Lou; and brothers Ernest, Eugene, Lawrence, Sam, and Harold. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, St. Martins. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). www.brenansfh.com.
