Obituary of Patricia Louise Blanchet

Patricia Louise Blanchet of Saint John, wife of the late Paul Maurice (Frenchy) Blanchet, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Loch Lomond Villa, in her 98th year. Born at Saint John on August 24, 1912, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Constance Roy (Inches) Harrison. Patricia graduated from the Netherwood School for Girls in 1929, and then attended Bishop Strachan School for Girls in Toronto. She studied for a year at Les Fougeres, Lausanne, Switzerland, where she learned to speak French. She subsequently graduated from the University of Toronto in 1935, and returned to Saint John, where she took a cooking course at Vocational School. After her marriage to Frenchy, Patricia was kept busy raising a family of twelve. She was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed knitting for her grandchildren, reading, and classical music and opera. She was a long time member of the Lady Moyra Ponsonby Chapter of the I.O.D.E, and Trinity Anglican Church. Patricia is survived by her children, Paul Blanchet (Lynne) of Fredericton, Constance Thomson (Scotty) of Rothesay, James Blanchet (Norma) of Rothesay, Eleanor Vineberg (Harry) of Halifax, Cyrus Blanchet of Iqualuit, Nunavut, Cynthia Parker (Dick) of Saint John, Linda Webb (Phillip) of Saint John, Margaret Blanchet of Milton, Ontario, Michael Blanchet of Rothesay, and Charles Blanchet of Saint John; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased by a son, Peter Blanchet; a daughter, Patricia Buick; and by sisters Janice Teed and Constance Harrison. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM from Trinity Anglican Church. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
