Obituary of John Joseph O'Neill

The death of John Joseph O’Neill, Jr. (Sonny) of Saint John West, occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John, he was a son of the late John Joseph and Elodie (Elward) O’Neill. Sonny was a bartender and a mason by trade, having worked many construction sites over the years, including the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station. He was an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was an avid baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Sonny is survived by a brother, David M. O’Neill and his wife Carol of Moncton; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Vernon and Donald, and by sisters Ruth Frank and Barb Bogle. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service which will be held on Friday at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Westmorland Road, Saint John. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
