Obituary of Leo Patrick McLaughlin

McLaughlin, Leo Patrick … The family of L. Patrick McLaughlin of Saint John, NB wish to announce his passing at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Monday, November 3, 2008 with his family at his side. Born in Saint John on March 17, 1933, he was a son of the late L.B. “Bart” and Theresa (Murphy) McLaughlin. Pat had been employed as an Insurance Officer with the Canada Employment Centre, retiring in 1992. He was a long time volunteer with Saint John Central Minor Hockey; a Lay Reader / Lector and a member of the Steering Committee for St. Peter’s Parish Council; as well as a volunteer with the Saint John Hearing Society. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Catharine (Whalen); sons, Pat (Cindy) and Bill; daughter, Jenn McLaughlin, all three of Saint John; two brothers, John R and Arthur (Florence), both of Saint John; a sister, Theresa Harrington of Connecticut, USA; sisters-in-law, Pat and Connie McLaughlin, both of Montreal; two grandchildren, Drew and Emma; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Catherine; a sister, Helen; four brothers, Frankie, Donald (late Irene), William and Gerard; sister-in-law, Rita McLaughlin; and brother-in-law, Fred Harrington. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, Clarendon St., on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
