Obituary of Reta May McGrath

Surrounded by her family, Reta McGrath, passed away peacefully at the Turnbull Nursing Home on Monday, December 22, 2008. She was born in Perry’s Point, NB on July 9, 1912 to the late Edward and Liza (Sherwood) Stevens. Reta is survived by five sons: Ricky McGrath, Lou McGrath, Cecil (Julie) McGrath, and Tom (Janice) Grant all of Saint John, NB and Frank Grant of Toronto, ON; three daughters: Norma Budgell of Saint John, NB, Sandra Smith (Ian) of Toronto, ON and Abbie McGee of Oromocto, NB; one sister, Sylvia Stevens of Saint John, NB and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Reta was predeceased by her first husband, Herbert Grant; second husband, Ralph McGrath; special friend, Edward “Bosse” Ritchie; two grandchildren: Cathy McCumber and Darcy Michaelis and several brothers and sisters. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 1 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
